PRIVATE AKDENIZ HOSPITAL PATIENT, COMPANION AND VISITOR RULES
Dear Patient and Valued Relatives,
As Private Akdeniz Hospital, our primary priority is to protect the health of our patients, provide a safe treatment environment, and carry out all processes in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK), the Patient Rights Regulation, and relevant healthcare legislation.
Within this scope, the following rules are applied to ensure the safety, privacy, and health of our patients and their relatives.
1. Companion Rules
- The number of companions is limited to one person.
- The companion must not be present next to the patient during medical rounds and medical care.
- The companion must not perform any intervention on the patient except under the instructions of the physician and nurse. The companion may assist in the patient’s care only to the extent permitted.
- The companion must not take the patient outside the hospital or change the patient’s bed without the request of the relevant physician or nurse.
- In order to provide a peaceful environment, companions must not speak loudly or make noise in patient rooms and corridors; televisions in rooms should be used in a way that does not disturb others; during doctor rounds and after 22:00, phones must be turned off or set to silent mode.
- The use of tobacco and alcohol within the hospital is prohibited in accordance with laws and hospital rules.
- Companions must not bring food or beverages from outside the hospital, and no food that has not been approved by a physician or dietitian should be given to the patient.
- A companion card is issued during patient admission.
- In case of a change of companion, the service nurse must be informed.
- The companion is obliged to comply with general hospital rules. In case of violation, the companion status will not be accepted.
- In any situation that may pose a problem for the patient’s health, the companion must first inform the service nurses. No intervention should be made without the knowledge of the nurses.
- After surgery, if there is no medical inconvenience, one companion may stay with the patient. If more than one relative wishes to stay, approval must be obtained from the physician or nurse.
- After hospitalization, it is recommended to hand over valuables to companions, or if there is no companion, to store them in the password-protected safes in the room.
Meal Times for Patients and Companions:
- Breakfast: 07:30–08:00
- Lunch: 12:00–13:00
- Dinner: 17:00–18:00
2. VISITING HOURS AND VISITING RULES
Visiting Hours:
Start: 10:00
End: 22:00
In order to ensure patient safety and reduce the risk of infection, it is important to comply with the following rules:
- Visits should be limited to a maximum of 15 minutes. After the visit time ends, services are checked by responsible staff and visitors are asked to leave.
- No more than two visitors are allowed per patient.
- During the visit, care must be taken not to touch objects/equipment in the environment or equipment connected to the patient, and not to sit on the patient’s bed.
- Hand hygiene must be ensured before and after visits; hands must be washed and/or disinfected.
- Behaviors that may affect the emotional state of the patient (such as crying or shouting) must be avoided.
- In cases where there is an increase in contagious diseases in the community, visitor restrictions may be imposed by the hospital administration.
- Individuals with contagious diseases or those who have recently been in contact with such individuals, as well as those showing symptoms such as cough, sneezing, sore throat, or runny nose, should not be accepted as visitors. However, if the visit is of critical importance, the visitor may be allowed with a surgical mask and proper hand hygiene, accompanied by healthcare personnel and with physician approval.
- Visitors are not accepted for patients whose condition may pose a risk or for isolated patients; in necessary cases, protective measures are taken with the assistance of the nurse and staff. Visitors must comply with isolation rules determined by the infection control committee.
- If relatives have flu or another illness, they are informed about protective measures. Visits are subject to physician approval in risky situations.
- Children under the age of 12 are not allowed to visit due to higher infection risk.
- Siblings and friends may visit pediatric patients only with physician approval.
- Outside visiting hours, first-degree relatives of emergency-admitted patients may be allowed to visit with approval of the physician and nurse.
- ICU visits: Visitors may be accepted, but restrictions may be imposed depending on the patient’s condition. The number of visitors is determined by the physician.
- In ICU units, visitors may be accepted once every 24 hours and at times deemed appropriate by the physician.
3. PATIENT SAFETY AND GENERAL HOSPITAL RULES
- Smoking is strictly prohibited in accordance with Law No. 4207.
- Patients are advised to hand over valuables to companions.
- If there is no companion, valuables may be delivered to security or stored in safes.
- The hospital is not responsible for personal belongings not delivered to the administration.
4. PROTECTION OF PERSONAL DATA AND PRIVACY
Private Akdeniz Hospital processes and protects all personal data in accordance with:
- Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698
- Patient Rights Regulation
- Ministry of Health regulations
Patient data is processed securely and only by authorized personnel.
